Benefits of Blepharoplasty
Eyelid surgery using Blepharoplasty has several benefits, including:
Blepharoplasty Results*
Most people report feeling more confident after their eyelid surgery. You will start to see results and improvements as early as a few weeks after surgery. The full results will be visible within 2 to 6 months. You may notice that you look more youthful, rested, and alert. For some people, surgery results could potentially last a lifetime with no reason ever to have an additional surgery. For others, the drooping or saggy bags can return.
Since you will bruise and swell post-eyelid surgery, you won’t start to see your results until this subsides within 10-14 days. As always, individual results vary per person.*
Why People Need Blepharoplasty
Blepharoplasty (BLEF-uh-roe-plas-tee) is a popular cosmetic procedure for the eyelids. As we age, the eyelids can stretch, and the muscles supporting them begin to weaken, causing excess skin and fat to gather above and below the eyelids. This results in sagging eyebrows, droopy eyelids, and bags under the eyes.
Besides cosmetic imperfections, this condition can significantly hinder your peripheral vision, especially the upper and outer parts of the visual field. Blepharoplasty reduces the hooding of the eyelid skin and improves those vision problems. In addition, Blepharoplasty helps millions of people look younger with rejuvenated eyes that look more alert.
What to Expect During a Blepharoplasty Procedure
Blepharoplasty is usually an outpatient procedure. You may be given injections into the lids to numb them or medication through an IV to help you relax for the procedure.
Upper Lid Blepharoplasty Surgery: During this procedure, the surgeon cuts along the fold of the eyelid. Then, they remove excess skin, muscle, and sometimes fat. Finally, they close the incision.
Lower Lid Blepharoplasty Surgery: During this procedure, the surgeon makes a cut just below the lashes along the eye’s natural crease or inside the lower lid. Then, they remove or redistribute fat, muscle, or sagging skin. Finally, they close the incision.
If your upper lid droops close to your pupil, your surgeon may combine Blepharoplasty with Ptosis. Ptosis is a treatment for lifting the eyelid as well as removing excess skin.
