Surgical Procedures

Dr. Andrew Goldman is a double board-certified diplomat of the American Board of Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery, and also of the American Board of Otolaryngology, Head and Neck Surgery. He is an expert at performing a wide range of cosmetic and reconstructive surgical procedures for the face, head and neck. During your consultation with him, he will listen carefully to understand your unique goals, and tailor the procedure to meet your specific needs.

Facelift

As you age, the skin and soft tissue of your face and neck become looser and start to fall in unflattering ways causing sagging of the cheeks, jowls and neck, with loss of the jawline and neckline. The combined effect makes you look older, and more tired.

A facelift is usually performed with a neck lift to help reverse these changes and restore your natural appearance without changing the way you look. Through a combination of tightening the soft tissue structures, and removal of excess skin and fat, the procedure can transform your face and neck.

There are a variety of different approaches for achieving the appropriate lift for you. Whether it is a mini-lift, SMAS facelift, or a deep plane facelift, Dr. Goldman will assess your individual needs and discuss the different options with you to determine the most appropriate surgical technique in order to obtain your desired results.

What You Need to Know

Rhinoplasty (Surgery of the Nose)

Facial plastic surgery has come a long way since the early days of rhinoplasty or the “nose job.” Dr. Goldman believes that your nose should harmonize elegantly with the other features of your face so that it is a perfect fit for you. He will discuss with you how subtle changes to your nasal structures can create better proportions in your nose, and can accentuate your other facial features, giving your face a natural sense of balance.

Rhinoplasty, or nose surgery, can be performed to improve the appearance of your nose, breathing issues, or to repair deformities caused by trauma or injury.

Rhinoplasty is the most delicate and complex of all facial plastic surgeries. Since the procedure must be individualized for each patient, Dr. Goldman will work with you to plan the procedure that will best meet your needs and goals.

Dr. Goldman also specializes in revision rhinoplasty / nasal reconstruction, helping those patients who are unsatisfied with earlier nose surgeries.

What You Need to Know

Eyelid Surgery (blepharoplasty)

Of all your facial features, none has such power to convey your individuality, emotions and youthfulness as your eyes. The eyes, however, are often the first to show signs of aging. When eyelids become puffy, start to sag, or are wrinkled, they can make you look tired and older. Eyelid surgery, or an eyelid lift, also known as blepharoplasty, is a procedure that can help you look more rested, energetic, and rejuvenated.

What You Need to Know

Neck Lift

Just as time can bring sagging skin and wrinkles to our faces, it often takes an even greater toll on the neck, in the form of unattractive folds or “turkey wattle,” bands of fat and muscle, and loose skin.

Neck rejuvenation, or a neck lift can provide dramatic results, either when performed alone or in combination with other plastic surgery procedures. Aside from conveying a youthful appearance, a more elegant and younger looking neck can also give the impression that you’ve lost weight.

What You Need to Know

Midface Lift

While a traditional facelift can bring dramatic improvements to your lower facial appearance, it doesn’t always address the cheeks and lower eyelid areas adequately. When the signs of aging are concentrated around the cheeks, nose and eyes, a midface lift is often more appropriate.

This procedure lifts your cheeks, softening the heaviness and deep folds between the nose and upper lip. Midface lifting is often performed with lower eyelid surgery to improve the entire cheek-lower lid complex.

What You Need to Know

Forehead Lift

Sagging eyebrows or deep furrows between the eyes have a way of making you look tired, upset or worried, even when you are not! A forehead lift (also known as a browlift) is a naturally restorative procedure that can bring your forehead, and eyebrows back to a more youthful position, which has a profound effect on your overall appearance.

There are multiple techniques for achieving the appropriate brow lift for you. Whether it is an endoscopic brow lift, or an open approach forehead lift, Dr. Goldman will assess your individual needs and discuss the different options with you to determine the most appropriate surgical technique in order to obtain your desired results.

What You Need to Know

Chin & Cheek Augmentation

Personal beauty emanates from all of a person’s facial features working together harmoniously and in balance with each other.

Receding chins and sunken cheeks are two traits that can throw off that balance. A “weak” chin may draw more attention to the nose or make the neckline appear shorter. Flat or sunken cheeks may make a person look less youthful and tired.

To help achieve improvement in facial harmony and structural proportions, many patients opt for chin augmentation, or cheek augmentation with facial implants to reshape their jaw, chin or cheeks.

There are multiple techniques for achieving the appropriate chin or cheek augmentation for you. Dr. Goldman will assess your individual needs and discuss the different options with you to determine the most appropriate technique in order to obtain your desired results.

Otoplasty (Surgery of the Ears)

Few facial imperfections are as conspicuous as protruding, oversized or distorted ears. Children with this trait may be teased by their classmates, hurting their self-image, and adults can likewise feel insecure about their appearance.

Fortunately, this problem can be corrected through a surgery known as otoplasty or ear pinning, in which the ears are reconstructed and reshaped while also being set back closer to the head.

Scar Revision

A common problem that patients discuss with us is scar removal or scar reduction. People with conspicuous scars on their face or neck are often uncomfortable or insecure about their appearance. Aside from being a cosmetic problem, scars can sometimes interfere with normal function.

While scars cannot be completely erased, there are several surgical techniques and nonsurgical techniques that can turn them into thinner, less noticeable lines that discretely blend into the normal creases and contours of your face. The technique that is used will depend on the characteristics of the scar, such as its size, depth and direction, as well as on your natural skin tone and the scar location.

Reconstructive Surgery

Unlike cosmetic plastic surgery, in which the goal is improving the appearance of your facial features, reconstructive surgery corrects abnormal structures and tries to restore normal function, with a simultaneous goal of preserving or restoring the aesthetic characteristics of your face. These abnormalities may be due to birth defects, such as cleft lips and palates, or they may be acquired in life—the result of diseases like skin cancer, or auto accidents or other traumatic events.

Facial plastic and reconstructive surgery with Dr. Goldman can help you achieve a more normal, restored appearance and erase the stigma associated with these conditions.
