Microneedling
Microneedling, or collagen induction therapy, is a minimally invasive skin rejuvenation procedure that works to help improve fine lines and wrinkles (the signs of aging), improve the appearance of acne scars, and refresh your skin by stimulating your skin’s collagen.
Our medical grade Microneedling device creates thousands of micro-channel perforations in your skin stimulating your natural wound healing process. This leads to a remodeling of collagen and elastin in your skin to help improve the overall texture of your skin creating younger looking, smoother skin.
What you need to know
- Microneedling is an extremely safe procedure that takes about 30 minutes to perform on your face. You can do microneedling on other areas of your body as well.
- Microneedling is safe for all skin types and skin tones.
- Most patients do not describe any significant discomfort with microneedling, and we usually apply a topical anesthetic prior to the procedure.
- You will experience some redness (erythema) and swelling after microneedling that can last 1-3 days, and is most intense immediately after the procedure. Many patients are comfortable returning to normal routines 2-3 days after microneedling. On isolated occasions, the recovery process can take up to 1 week.
- For best results, we recommend combining your microneedling treatment with an application of PRP (platelet rich plasma). Some refer to this combination as a “Vampire Facial.” Adding PRP helps to further stimulate your collagen to improve results, while also promoting faster healing. To optimize the effect of microneedling, the treatments should be performed at regular intervals, typically every 3-4 months.
