Forever Young BBL
BBL/IPL/Fotofacial is a remarkable laser therapy for removing the signs of sun damage and aging, with minimal recovery time. Using broad band laser light (BBL), this breakthrough technology can very effectively treat discoloration issues in your skin by repairing sun damage, rosacea (red/flushed skin), age spots, and can be used to treat acne, stimulate collagen, and decrease wrinkles as well.
Your BBL treatments work to remove sun damage, and improve your skin’s overall appearance on your face, chest, neck, arms, or hands. Typically treatments are performed in a series of 3-4 treatments, 4-8 weeks apart to maximize the benefits.
By using a cooling plate while it delivers its laser energy, BBL creates a targeted response deep in your skin’s tissues, minimizing any trauma to the skin surface. The result is an extremely effective treatment with virtually no recovery time.
BBL/IPL/Fotofacial therapy is often combined with other skin treatments (Halo, Profractional therapy, MicroLaser Peel, or Microneedling) to provide more dramatic, faster results, and can be done on specific areas of the face or body.
What you need to know
- BBL laser therapy takes about 30 minutes to perform, depending on the area to be treated. A numbing cream is applied prior to the treatment to make the procedure more comfortable. After the treatment, the skin is gradually cooled and moisturized.
- Redness and swelling are common after a BBL laser procedure for about 2-4 hours, and can take anywhere from 1-2 days and up to a week to fully subside. Patients may also notice unusual warmth to the area immediately after the procedure. Generally, the recovery from BBL is mild and most patients resume most activities (out of the sun) within 1-2 days after treatment
- It is very important that you avoid sun exposure as much as possible for the 5 days prior to the treatment and for 1 week after the treatment. Stimulating your skin’s pigment producing cells immediately before or after a BBL treatment can cause harm to your skin. If you come in for your treatment with over exposed skin (tanned or reddened skin), we may re-schedule the treatment. You should use sunscreen during the time before and after your BBL treatment, and remember to reapply every 1-2 hours if you will be in the sun.
- Over the course of the first week or two after a BBL treatment, your skin will go through some changes. You may see your dark spots and sun damage come to the surface of your skin before eventually flaking off, leaving an improvement in your skin’s tone and texture. You can then expect to see gradual improvements to your collagen and skin over the next 3-6 months!
