Halo

Why get a Halo?

HALO is the world’s first, and only hybrid fractional laser. We are proud to be one of the highest volume Halo practices in the whole state of Colorado year after year. Our patients love the Halo laser because it delivers both ablative and non-ablative treatment to different levels of the skin in a single pass, providing ablative therapy, with non-ablative downtime. HALO maximizes your results while reducing your recovery time, perfect for your active Boulder lifestyle!!

HALO is a complete skin rejuvenation treatment, helping to minimize the signs of aging while also treating brown spots and sun damage. Over time, your skin can start to feel dull or lose its youthful glow because of sun exposure and your body’s natural aging process. Halo stimulates your skin to improve in overall tone and texture while significantly removing discolorations, reducing fine lines and wrinkles, reducing pore size, and improving your skin’s tightness and thickness. Halo eliminates years of damage while restoring your skin’s natural luminous glow.

  • What skin issues can HALO address (bullet points)
  • Fine lines and wrinkles
  • Sun damage, brown spots and discoloration
  • Visible signs of aging
  • Uneven skin tone
  • Poor skin texture / Loose skin
  • Enlarged pores
  • Acne scars and other scar issues

What you need to know

  • HALO treatments take about 30-45 minutes to perform, depending on the area to be treated. A numbing cream is applied prior to the treatment to make the procedure more comfortable. After the treatment, the skin is gradually cooled with moving air for about 15-20 minutes.
  • Redness and swelling are common after a HALO procedure and can take anywhere from 1-2 days and up to a week to subside depending on the depth of the therapy. Patients may also notice unusual warmth to the area for the first day after the procedure.
  • For best results, we recommend combining your HALO treatment with an application of PRP (platelet rich plasma). Some refer to this combination as a “Vampire Facial.” Adding PRP helps to further stimulate your collagen to improve results, while also promoting faster healing.
  • Over the course of the first week after a HALO treatment, your skin will go through some changes as it begins repairing and restoring your collagen layers. You may see dark spots come to the surface, a roughened skin texture, and even some peeling as it heals. Your skin will be slightly pink after these stages as you continue through the healing and regeneration process. You can then expect to see gradual improvements in your collagen and skin over the next 3-6 months!

Please see the links below for even more details on the HALO hybrid fractional laser procedure.

Halo is the laser we have all been waiting for. Outstanding rejuvenation can now be achieved on many levels of the skin, with a very approachable recovery process. Halo is a game changer for our aesthetic community.

—Andrew C. Goldman

MD Facial Plastic Surgeon | Founder and Director of Boulder Valley Laser and Cosmetic, Boulder, CO

With Halo, I can achieve results which I would have only expected from an ablative fractional laser, but get downtimes that I would normally see with a non-ablative fractional laser. It really is the best of both worlds.

—Jason Pozner, MD, FACS

Halo changes the paradigm. The unique dual wavelength delivers an unprecedented ability to customize treatments for each individual. Every patient has different needs in terms of sun damage and downtime. With Halo, I can finally have the best of both non-ablative and ablative wavelengths. I can precisely dial in the exact treatment patients need for amazing results within the desired downtime.

—Chris W. Robb, MD, PhD

Dermatologist | The Co-founder of Skin & Allergy Center in Tennessee

I had a Halo treatment and my experience was fabulous. Though some people told me it was painful, I found it to be just mildly uncomfortable and was totally pleased since I drove myself and I live 40 minutes away. I was very pleased with the results. Really pleased because many people noticed the results and they were interested after seeing how effective the procedure was for me.

Patient

When I started going to Boulder Valley Laser and Cosmetic, I was immediately impressed with both the professionalism and warmth of the doctor, clinicians and staff when I first came there at an open house in 2018. That same impression is still with me today. I have always been treated well by everyone I encounter. The products they carry are top notch, the knowledge of my medical aesthetician is amazing, and I have been getting great results since my first Halo treatment in January 2019. I will continue giving them my business because I know I am in good hands every time I go there.

Frequently Asked Questions

/spe

What results can I expect?

Halo is a complete skin rejuvenation treatment. You will see improvements in overall tone and texture in addition to significant removal of discoloration, reduction in fine lines*, reduced pore size, skin reflectivity and glow.

How many treatments do you need?

What’s great about Halo is that you can choose how many treatments you want! Discussing your goals with Dr. Goldman and his team can help you choose the treatment regimen that is right for you.

What happens during the treatment?

Thirty minutes to an hour before the treatment your clinician may place a topical anesthetic on your skin to reduce the sensation during the procedure. The area will be measured with motion tracking technology to ensure the area is treated evenly. The clinician will treat each measured section by uniformly rolling the Halo handpiece over the skin until the system recognizes the treatment is complete.

What does Halo feel like?

With a topical anesthetic and integrated cooling technology, most patients experience very little discomfort. Most patients describe the treatment as a feeling of heat with occasional prickling sensations. After the treatment, most patients will continue to feel warm for an additional 30 to 45 minutes, or a bit longer with deeper treatment levels.

How soon after my treatment can I return to normal activities?

Our team will go over post treatment care with you in detail. You will know what to expect from your skin as it heals, as well as what activities are appropriate. In general, we anticipate a return to normal activities in 2-3 days for lighter treatments, and 5-7 days for deeper treatments.

When will I see results?

You will see initial results between two and five days after your Halo treatment, but your skin will continue to improve over time. Most patients see the greatest pigmentary improvement in the first two to three weeks. This is followed by a dermal regeneration phase that start around 3-4 weeks after the treatment and continues to improve for months.

How long will my results last?

Our Halo results will last for months to years, depending on depth of treatment and maintenance programs. You should continue to keep your skin protected at all times using UV sunscreen to protect your new, healthy skin. Each additional Halo treatment you get will only improve the results further, giving you even better-looking skin.

Every Halo treatment is customized for your skin and your lifestyle. Depending on your needs, our team may recommend a single treatment or a series of treatments. Let us help you set up the right treatment regimen for you to maximize your long term result
